Let’s take a look together at ways to grow and maintain health naturally, before we do that we should ask ourselves the question, what is health? Health is the absence of disease on a physical, mental and emotional level. Now let us explore what causes diseases, all the great pioneers like Hippocrates, Dr.
Benedict Lust, Dr. Bernard Jensen, Dr. Ann Wigmore, Prof. Arnold Ehret, Alfredo Bowman (Dr. Sebi). Those are just to name a few, they have all independently come up with similar conclusion that toxicity and deficiency are at the root cause of all diseases.
I will call this process Cause & Effect, most people address the effect and not the cause; it may be as simple as having a headache and taking the easier way out, drinking a pill to cure the headache. Instead I would suggest to use the common sense approach, using the process of elimination, asking questions like did you have the right amount of sleep? Could the cause be the body way to ask for a nap? Did you drink enough water throughout the day? Could the possible cause be dehydration? Did you have a long stressful day? Could it possibly be a need for self-care? Did you spend your day in front of the computer staring at the screen? Are you constipated? Some people report that after having a good bowel movement their head felt better. You got my point, it is best to find the cause instead of putting a Band-Aid over it, addressing the cause will give long term results.
These pioneers all believed that diseases cannot exist in an alkaline environment, and the body produces illness as a result of too much acidity. This I have no doubt believing it to be true, I often look to nature for clues, did you ever owned a fish tank? If, yes I am sure you can totally get what I am trying to illustrate. The pH of the fish tank has to be a friendly environment in order to fish to thrive; this is the insurance policy you have in order not to see dead fish floating on top of the water in your tank often. I believe same thing goes with the human eco system if we do not maintain a pH that our cell can renew itself from, short term the body will try to compensate, over time this can potentially cause problems.
Though these pioneers all left a part of history behind at different times starting from 500 B.C. to the present time. Hippocrates’s famous quote is “Let food be your nutrition, and let nutrition be your food.” DR. Ann Wigmore often quoted “ Dead food, dead cell; Living foods for living cells.” She thought people to remove toxins from the body using enemas and sprouting to renew cells and restore health. Dr. Jensen was famous for this quote “Food is men only truly reliable medicine and foods do cure, just the same as wrong foods and drinks may kill us. In times past, knowledge of the bowel was more widespread and people were taught how to care for the bowel.” Dr. Benedict Lust known as the “Father of Naturopathy” The natural system for curing disease is based on a return to nature in regulating the diet, breathing, exercising, bathing and the employment of various forces to eliminate the poisonous products in the system, and to raise the vitality of the patient to a proper standard of health.” Prof. Arnold Ehret author of Mucusless Diet Healing System wrote “Every sick person has more or less mucus-clogged system, such mucus being derived from undigested and un-eliminated, unnatural food substances, accumulated from childhood on. Details regarding this fact may be learned by reading my “Rational Fasting and Regenerative Diet.”. Alfredo Bowman (Dr. Sebi) “Cancer cannot live in a pH of 7.5 or more; eat to live not live to eat.” It is amazing how they all came up with the similar conclusion independently.
We have to remind ourselves that the function of food is to build and renew cells. Food fuels us with energy and regulates our bodily processes. Whole foods are more suited for this task compared to process foods. Choose foods that are alkalizing to the body. They are found in the perishable section at the supermarket or most farmers markets, they are fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and sprouts.
Toxicity is the other cause they identified to cause diseases. Hippocrates an ancient Greek physician said “All disease begins in the gut.” Doctors Wigmore and Jensen advocated self- healing methods using colon hydrotherapy and enemas coupled with lifestyle modification to help put an end stop to what causes the ill health in the first place. They had enormous success in assisting people to reverse diseases.
There are certain elements that are necessary to ensure the body remains healthy long term. Set goals for yourself that outlines a lifestyle:
-
Get plenty fresh air
-
Drink water from a reliable and chemical free source
-
Eat less processed food, more whole foods
-
Get adequate amount of sunlight
-
Strengthen your digestive system
-
Move your body often (qigong, dance, walk, yoga, cycle, swim, skate etc)
-
Get enough rest and relaxation
-
Consider supplementing with vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, enzymes, probiotics, green super-foods
-
Balance pH level
-
Cleanse and detoxify the body with the change of the seasons
-
Think positively
-
Have a spiritual connection
In the early days Hippocrates the father of medicine said, “Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food.” In the past it was safe to say an apple a day keeps the doctor away, the same is not true today. Food is not what it used to be before, today the use of herbicides, insecticides, GMO, hormones and antibiotics are common practice in the production of foods.
For that reason among others, we are unable to fulfill our daily requirements through our food intake in America. Consider supplementing with this basic approach.
Start investing in a lifestyle that will grow strong health for you and your family.
